For the last couple of weeks of term four, Lucy and I collected NCEA textbooks from St Cuthbert's College. A total of 155 NCEA textbooks were donated including 87 maths, 47 science and 25 humanities textbooks. These textbooks will be donated to low decile high schools next year. If you are a student or know of anyone who would have NCEA textbooks, AME workbooks, ESA study guides, learning workbooks, StudyPass revision guides and fold-out notes, please contact me ([email protected]) as I am always accepting donations. Thank you to my friend Lucy who helped me collect these textbooks and to the students who donated! Emily.Today I also donated to Favona School, a primary school with a school roll of approximately 500 students. Below is a screenshot of part of the email sent to me by the deputy principal at Favona. It is good to hear that this stationery will help the students overcome barriers to their learning. Emily.
Today I visited Onepoto Primary School, a decile one school in Northcote. I had the pleasure of meeting their lovely staff and principal and watching one of their school prize giving performances. This stationery will be very useful for the students when they are all relocated into the hall while the school is being rebuilt. Emily.
I received a very generous donation of pens, paper and office supplies from Chapman Tripp. Thank you so much for the prompt delivery, this stationery will be well utilised at low decile schools. Emily.
I received a very generous donation from an individual who contacted me through this website. This stationery was perfect timing as I was running low in resources to donate to schools. I have attached a photo of the donation below, thank you very much for the donation. Emily.
I donated to Wiri Central School, a decile one school in Manurewa with a school roll of over 400 students. I donated My Mojo pens, DOMS pencils, DOMS colouring pencils, two boxes of whiteboard markers, ring binders and more. I met with the principal and a few of the students who were very excited about the stationery they would have for next year. Emily.
I donated pencils, ring binders and arts and craft material as requested by the teachers of Ruapotaka School. Ruapotaka School is a decile one Year 1 - 8 school located in Point England. It was lovely to meet with the principal and students of the school and they all loved the stationery. Emily.
I donated Naman pencil packs, highlighters, My Mojo pens, envelopes, labels, ring binders, two boxes of whiteboard markers and more to Finlayson Park School. This is a decile one school located in Manurewa with a school roll of over 1,000 students from Year 1 - 8. I met with the principal and a few of the students who were very appreciative of the stationery and it was nice to hear that the stationery would be well utilised across the classrooms at Finlayson Park School. Emily.
Today I donated to Te Kura Akonga O Manurewa School. I donated colouring pencils, pens, pencil cases, whiteboard markers and more. I was told by a staff member that "as you can imagine we are in a very low decile area and parents would rather spend money on food and clothing rather that a book and pen." On the Government website 'Education Counts' (https://www.educationcounts.govt.nz/find-school/donations-summary) I found that "Schools can ask parents and whānau to pay for goods and services they provide that are optional (eg pens and lunches) but it is up to families/whānau to decide whether to buy them from the school/kura or elsewhere." However since many parents are unable to afford these stationery items and purchasing stationery is not their priority, many children come to school without the necessary stationery items to learn which is heartbreaking and the lack of stationery items creates an obstacle to their learning. Emily.
Today I visited Roscommon School, a decile 1 school in Manurewa. I donated Naman pencil packs, glue sticks, ring binders, two boxes of whiteboard markers and more. The teachers were very appreciative of the stationery and are going to give it to the children without any stationery at the start of school next year. Emily.
A very kind St Cuthbert's student and her parent donated a large amount of colouring pencils, pencils, pens, felt tips, erasers, highlighters, pencil cases and more. Thank you!
